Most renowned of Kashmir handicrafts, is the Pashmina Shawls; it is the name for the finest Cashmere. Pashmina, the queen of all wools which originated in Kashmir hundreds of years ago. The art of Pashmina making in the Valley of Kashmir is believed to be as old as 3000 years B.C .In the past, only rich and elite had the privilege of enjoying luxurious fabric. It has been admired for past many centuries by the Moughals and was considered as a mark nobility and grace. Since the 18th and the 19 centuries the Europeans have developed a peculiar craze for it.
The Pashmina is made from the under-fleece of a mountain goat (Ladakh and Central Asia) shed by it while wintering on high altitudes. This material is very delicate and expensive as it is fine especially Kashmir pashmina is the most original and authentic cashmere.
